About the SPSP Student Committee

The Society for Personality and Social Psychology Student Committee (SPSP SC) is a group of ten graduate and undergraduate students who are elected by the student members of SPSP each fall. Any student member of SPSP can run to serve on the SC. The SC has two primary responsibilities: 1) to create resources and events that benefit students of personality and social psychology and 2) to advocate for students’ concerns and needs. 

Each SC can choose to allocate their effort differently, but typically the SC is responsible for: organizing a mentor lunch at the SPSP Annual Convention; awarding the Student Poster Awards; awarding the Outstanding Research Awards; posting articles and notices on social media that are relevant to students; offering an abstract check service for non-native English speakers who are submitting their work to the Annual Convention; and hosting a social event at the Annual Convention. Each of these responsibilities and any others that the SC takes are executed by a committee, and each member of the SC chairs at least one committee.
