Introducing SPSPotlight Co-Editor Brenda Straka: First Year Doctoral Candidate, Duke University

Brenda Straka headshotMy research: In my research, I am hoping to explore questions revolving around biracial identity formation, particularly relating to Hispanic/Latino groups. I am also interested in the health outcomes and social pain experienced in intergroup interactions and social exclusion.

About me: I am from northern Virginia and completed my B.A in Psychology and Cognitive Science with a minor in English at the University of Virginia this past May. While at UVA, I worked in a number of labs from social neuroscience to cognitive aging. In my spare time, I like to read, play my viola, and exercise, and the loves of my life are chocolate and dogs.

I am very excited to be coming on board as one of the co-editors for the SPSPotlight newsletter!
