Driving Meaningful Change to Discrimination in Sport
Racist, sexist, and homophobic behaviors remain serious and harmful problems in school and community sport settings, particularly in children's sport.
Systemic and structural barriers also prevent many people from participation and from gaining the many potential psychosocial and health benefits from playing sports.
This preconference is for researchers and industry practitioners who are interested in finding solutions. Researchers are invited to share their work examining the drivers of discrimination (including theoretical) or work focused on developing and testing interventions designed to change attitudes, behaviours, or systemic/structural barriers. Industry practitioners are invited to showcase their work and, potentially, attract academic collaborators.
A key focus of the day will be fostering collaboration between academics and between academics and industry.
