The Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) is excited to announce that Jonathan Adler will serve as the next editor of the Personality and Social Psychology Review (PSPR). Dr. Adler will begin processing manuscripts on Jan. 1, 2022, with his term ending on Dec. 31, 2025. The current editorial team led by Heejung Kim and David Sherman will continue their leadership until Dr. Adler’s term begins.

Dr. Adler, a Professor of Psychology at Olin College of Engineering and Visiting Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, brings a wealth of academic experience to the PSPR team. He also serves as Chief Academic Officer at Health Story Collaborative, a non-profit organization focused on elevating storytelling in the medical ecosystem.

Previously, he has been an Associate Editor at the Journal of Personality and Collabra: Psychology, as well as serving on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, European Journal of Personality, Journal of Research in Personality, and Personality Science.

The dynamic relationship between narrative identity and psychological well-being are key focuses of Dr. Adler’s research and in recent years he has been examining this relationship among people with disabilities through case study, qualitative, and longitudinal quantitative methods. His research has been covered by a variety of major news outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, The Atlantic, and Scientific American.

Beyond his work in psychology, Dr. Adler is a theater director and playwright. A play which he co-wrote, tentatively titled Reverse Transcription, will be produced Off-Broadway next summer.  He and his husband have two young children and an old rescue mutt named Roxie.

The Personality and Social Psychology Review, is devoted to publishing original theoretical papers and conceptual review articles in personality and social psychology. PSPR is intended as a forum for conceptual pieces that initiate new lines of research and theory or provide a coherent framework for existing theory and programs of research.
