Description

SPSP Fellowship and APA Division 8 Fellowship

Fellowship identifies SPSP members with longstanding contribution to SPSP and the field of Personality and Social Psychology. There are different ways to achieve Fellows status in SPSP and in Division 8 of APA. SPSP is an organization independent of APA, and additional steps are required to become an APA Division 8 Fellow.

1. To become an SPSP Fellow: The SPSP Fellows Committee seeks nominations, including self-nominations, from the SPSP membership. After a review of materials, the SPSP Fellows Committee recommends candidates for Fellow status to the Board of Directors. Upon approval by the Board of Directors, candidates become Fellows of SPSP. If you are already an APA Division 8 Fellow, you still need to follow this application process to become an SPSP Fellow.

2. To become an APA Division 8 Fellow if you belong to APA but are not currently an APA Fellow in any division: The application is done via the APA Online Fellows Application Platform. Specific instructions and necessary materials can be found here. Final approval is by the APA.

3. If you are a Current Fellow of another APA Division, you can become an APA Division 8 Fellow with the approval of the SPSP Fellows Committee: Candidates who are current Fellows of another APA division (not Division 8), and are members in good standing in Division 8 of APA (i.e., current members of APA who also pay the extra $2 beyond APA dues to be members of Division 8), may request that the SPSP Fellows Committee nominate them to APA as Fellows of APA Division 8.
