As part of our effort to expand access to SPSP events and resources, we are pleased to offer new rate options for membership and Annual Convention registration for members based in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC).

This rate was developed by the SPSP International Committee and approved by the Board of Directors at their Summer 2022 meeting. This step is meant to help SPSP meet the goal of enhancing the diversity of people and ideas in our field, promoting an inclusive society.

In order to qualify for the LMIC membership rate or Annual Convention registration cost, an individual must be based in a country that the World Bank has listed as lower-, lower-middle, or upper-middle income. More details on the World Bank's methodology are available on their website.

Under this new rate, a member based in an LMIC country will pay $10 in annual fees. If they participate in the Annual Convention, the rate will be $100 for an All Access registration and $50 for those attending virtually. The LMIC in-person preconference rate will be $50 and the virtual preconference rate $25.

We believe that this is a crucial step in SPSP's ongoing effort to remove barriers that hinder access to the wealth of knowledge and opportunities that our Society offers. We also believe that our Society will be enriched and our scientific efforts improved by the diversity of research, ideas, and perspectives that members and Convention attendees from around the globe contribute to our community.
